Are you ready for the Olympic Games to begin? Around the world, millions of eyes will be glued to the TV or Internet. NBC has 5,535 hours of coverage planned. Google has a dedicated website. For the next couple of weeks it will be a sports fans delight. At ANSYS, because of our work with Speedo, most of us will be particularly interested in the Swimming Events.
On Saturday, July 28th the swimming kicks-off with the Men’s 400m Individual Medley. Michael Phelps and Ryan Lochte will be giving it their all to set new world records. Over the past few months, there has been quite a bit of press around the effect of technology on the advancement of world-record breaking swimming in the Olympic Games. There’s been speculation as to whether records will be broken despite restrictions on suits and equipment. We’re expecting to see some.

Speedo is the number one swimwear brand in the world. We had the opportunity to meet with Joseph Santry, research manager at AquaLab, Speedo to talk about how simulation contributes to those world record-breaking attempts.
This is a good example of how CFD can be used both for development and promoting a product to the client or buyer. Now, if Speedo could just make suits that would look good on middle aged guys like me, they’d be unstopable.
