Happy Friday, folks — I’m back!  It’s time for my second go at bringing you the latest engineering technology news! But first, it’s Labor Day weekend here in the U.S.- a holiday that traditionally marks the end of summer. So, I wanted to take a moment and wish those of you who will be taking this coming Monday off an enjoyable long weekend! Earth Day 2012 – What Role Do Engineers Play?

Earth Day started as a movement founded in 1970, by then the U.S. Senator from Wisconsin, Gaylord Nelson after witnessing the ravages of the 1969 massive oil spill in Santa Barbara, California. According to Wikipedia, he was “Inspired by the student anti-war movement, he realized that if he could infuse that energy with an emerging public consciousness about air and water pollution, it would force environmental protection onto the national political agenda.”  Continue reading
